Condition rules

  • Find and record the reel number on every reel before you report it.

How to schedule

Report the reel numbers through Okonite's online steel reel return form or by phone. The form asks whether scrap cable remains on each reel.

Notes

The page shows where the red ID tag sits and how tags looked before March 2005.

Before you call

  1. Empty every reel

Programs want empty reels. Leftover cable can cost a fee or get the reel refused.

  2. Count Okonite reels only

Other brands don't count toward the minimum. Check the count against the minimum above. Yard math shows how much of a truck it fills.

  3. Inspect against the condition rules

Set aside reels that fail. They go to a buyer or a recycler instead.

Reels Okonite won't take?

Other brands, short loads, plywood and reels that fail inspection can all go in one pickup.
