# SpoolRecycling

> Reel clearance for contractors and plants with empty wire and cable reels. The site identifies a reel from its flange, traverse and drum, checks whether its manufacturer takes it back for free, and otherwise takes a pickup request to buy (reuse) or recycle it. Pickup requests are handled by the sister company Repackify (https://www.repackify.com).

## Tools
- [Reel identifier](https://spoolrecycling.com/identify): flange x traverse x drum to designation, closest published size, take-back fit and likely route (take-back, reuse, recycle, return first, scrap).
- [Take-back directory](https://spoolrecycling.com/take-back): manufacturer reel return programs with reels accepted, material rules, minimum load, cost, how to schedule, source and last-verified date.
- [Yard math](https://spoolrecycling.com/yard-math): reel counts by size to floor area, 53 ft trailer fit with reels stood on flange, and truckloads; arithmetic shown.
- [Request a pickup](https://spoolrecycling.com/pickup): the "clear my reels" form.

## Take-back programs (brand, rule, source)
- Service Wire (Free Reel Return): Service Wire picks up its own labelled nailed-wood reels (30 to 72 in flange) for free, by the full truckload only; other brands are not eligible. ## Reel size designation
- A reel is named flange diameter x inside traverse x drum diameter, in inches (e.g. 48x28x24).
- Traverse is the inside width between flanges, not the overall width.
- Aluminum Association codes: NR = non-returnable reel, RM = returnable metal reel, RMT = returnable metal reel with I-beam tires; the numbers are flange.traverse (NR 48.28 = 48 in flange, 28 in traverse).
- NEMA WC 26 is the industry packaging standard (a paid document); the site's size table comes from Southwire's public reel chart, cited per row: https://spoolrecycling.com/sizes

## Pickup form
- https://spoolrecycling.com/pickup collects: what to do (buy reusable reels / recycle end-of-life reels), material, condition, sizes, count, pickup ZIP (required), timeframe, name, company, email or phone, optional SMS consent, notes.

## What the site does not do
- No consumer single-spool or craft-spool sales; for buying reels see https://www.repackify.com/buy-wooden-spools.
- It does not speak for manufacturers; program terms change, so check each source.
- It does not take cable; reels must be empty.
- The pickup form covers wood reels; plastic and steel reels are routed to take-back, recycling or scrap.
